Purpose Over Culture + Chipotle Jicama Salad

You ever hear someone respond after being questioned why they are doing something? It’s as if they couldn’t come up with any other logical answer, so they run to culture.

Yesterday, in my quiet time, I was reading the book of Mark, Chapter 7. And the Lord whispered in my ear that
there are too many people pretending. Pretending to live for him, pretending to be obedient to him, pretending to have a relationship with him. Some of you think that just because you get up every Sunday morning and physically show up to church service, that you’re living the way Yahweh wants you to. Some of you actually believe that just because you’re a PK (preacher’s kids) and were practically BORN in the church, that your salvation couldn’t be touched.

I'm reminded of when I was in college. I was that girl that was pretending. I was tired of doing things the Lord's way, so i started listening to the people around me. At first, I felt no conviction, whatsoever. But eventually, I couldn't even recognize myself. From the outside looking in, no one would have known about the double life that I was living. But the truth is, I made a conscious decision to step away from the Lord. I chose to serve my culture, and ignore God. I chose to serve my flesh, instead of be obedient to Him

Thankfully, the conviction came later. The Lord fought for me. And because of Him, I can honestly say that He's the center of my life today. But I was such  a mess, and He chose to save me.

IF that's you, I’m here to tell you sweet sister in Christ, you have become too comfortable in your walk. This life is a choice that you make every single day, several times per day. We are called to die to our flesh! We are called to take up our crosses, and follow Jesus (Hebrew name: Yeshua). It’s an intentional decision, and because the world is constantly bombarding your every thought, you have to constantly choose Yeshua over and over again.

The world will place its own expectations on you, and they are ALWAYS against God. Not sometimes, but always. The traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation, a lot of the times are the very things that are holding us back from true relationship with our Holy Father.

Mark 7:6-8 says, “This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men. You leave the commandment of God and hold the tradition of men”.

Yeshua was describing people bondage, here.

A lot of times, in an effort to uphold what some mere man told us to do, we directly go against what God told us to do. I love how Mark includes great detail of what Yeshua was teaching; He explains the conflict between the world’s traditions and Yahweh’s commands.

It reminds me how we hold tightly to our culture, even when it’s a direct clash with His Word. For example, I‘ve seen a few ladies on my social media timelines share pictures of themselves in a extremely revealing apparel.

I noticed that if challenged to reconsider putting their bodies on display for the world to see, the first reaction was “well, it’s culture”, as if that makes it okay.
Sister, if your culture clashes with the Word of God, then there’s no profit in it. Kingdom obedience over man-made culture. Purpose over culture.

One woman wrote an entire article about this costume giving her a confidence boost. Sister girl, Yahweh, is your confidence. Seek Him, not the world! You are beautiful in His sight, and he wants you for Himself and your future husband only.

“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these other things will be added unto you” –Matthew 6:33

You were bought with a price [a high one, I might add]. There’s so many uplifting things that God says about you. You are His daughter! He loves you more than you could ever imagine
He says that you are more precious than rubies! Precious things and precious people are hidden and reserved for special and specific purposes, not for every Tom, Dick, and Harry to enjoy! My heart bleeds for the women who give so much of themselves to man that there is nothing to give God. He’s a very jealous God, and He is more than worthy to have you. This world hasn’t earned you, HE HAS!!

He’s waiting for you to take Him seriously. He’s waiting for you to want Him and turn away from this wicked world.

Right now, some of you have one foot in the kingdom with the other foot stuck all up in your culture. You rationalize your behavior and activities with “Well, this is what I’ve always done”. Which makes me ask “And how has that been working out for you? [Seriously ask yourself this, and answer yourself honestly]

“So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth” Revelation 3:16

He wants ALL of you, and He wants all of you right now. You don’t get to experience His best for your life while you play around with His heart. Your outward life is a direct reflection of what’s going on inside of your heart. That change on the inside will begin to change the outside, if you simply just let him. You’ll start to look differently, speak differently, think differently, and you will carry yourself with a level of self-worth that only comes with Yahweh’s anointing.

Be encouraged to choose Yahweh over your culture, sweet sister.

Man will always fail you so..

Meditate on this scripture tonight and let the Holy Spirit minister to you:

“Stop regarding man in whose nostrils is breath, for what account is he?” – Isaiah 2:22

 Today's Whole Food Recipe is...

Chipotle Jicama Salad

So, I learned how to make regular jicama salad at a cooking class and decided that I wanted to add an extra kick. And of course, chipotle is great for doing just that! But the star of this food item is the jicama, which is a root vegetable. So, it has the consistency of a potato, but it's a much healthier selection. This dish is both paleo and vegan compliant as well. Nutritious and delicious! :-)

Ingredients

1 Jicama
1 Cup of Chipotle flavored veganaise
1/2 Red pepper
1 Green pepper
2 Green Onions
3 Celery Stalks
1 Cup of Cilantro (chopped very fine)
2 Tablespoons of coconut amino acids
1/4 Cup of turmeric
1/2 Cup of nutritional yeast
2 Tablespoons of black salt (will give your dish an eggy smell-if you don't prefer it, you can skip this ingredient)

Preparation Instructions

Peel jicama

Chop all vegetables into small sizes (see image above for reference)

In a bowl, combine the chopped jicama and chipotle veganaise

Mix until well and add more veganaise as you prefer.

Add in all other ingredients and combine.

That's it! Enjoy!
